When driving alongside Sognefjorden and you think you cannot possibly get any further and deeper into Sogn, you will find Årdal National Park municipality. With majestic, untouched nature at the doorsteps of Jotunheimen National Park, Årdal’s position between steep, tall mountains and deep valleys is quite likely Norway’s most exciting and unknown playground for outdoor activity enthusiasts.
The municipality has two small towns, Årdalstangen and Øvre Årdal, with a population of 5170 inhabitants. There are smaller valleys surrounding the two small towns; Naddvik (Vikadalen), Nundalen, indre and ytre Ofredal, Seimsdalen, Fardalen and Utladalen. Årdal hosts several popular festivals for those interested in music and the outdoors and attracts festivalgoers from near and afar.
